Ernest, Please go away!

Got a little bit of time. Going to call in to spend time at home getting ready for Ernesto. Whether he decides to be a Hurricane or Tropical Storm, I don't know. It is beyond my knowledge of understanding weather science. At least
no political stuff for a while. I hope it doesn't mess up the beaches bad. I guess I will learn in time. I wish everyone well at handling this weather system.

Get Ready for Hurricane Ernesto!!!!

It looks like Hurricane Ernesto will be making a visit to Florida. I will be slacking off on doing blog writing while living the adventure of avoiding the Hurricane. I remember how Charley was like a black blanket when it came. It covered us and there was no place to go or hide. We stayed in the house only with the radio programs to tell us how the outside world was doing. Being without power was quite a drag. New Orleans may be glad and grateful for not getting Ernesto, but it was like a war zone with trees down and signal lights out and no power for a cup of coffee. Times were hard during Hurricane Charley. I hope this won't affect us as bad, but I can only hope.

Saturday Ideas

It is Saturday early, but I do have my cup of coffee and well intentions of writing my due check for health insurance. Maybe, getting refill on medication and seeing a movie today or tomorrow.
Mom's coffee pot has just finished brewing and her well intention thoughts will generate after drinking her cups of coffee for the day. I did want to point out that I saw Golden Rod which is a certain sign of Fall. It is a beautiful yellow plant that grows wild and looks like a flowery bouquet when a whole bunch of Golden Rods are picked. I hope the yard trash gets picked up today and the shuttle goes up tomorrow which will make for me a nice weekend. I also do belief that gas prices are falling just a little bit.

Watch the weather

The weather is worth watching. There is a shuttle launch on Sunday and we may have a hurricane next week. I don't like driving through rain storms and the hurricanes that came through Florida did lots of damage to the trees and street lights. It was like something out of a war zone movie. I hope I don't have to deal with that again, because it wasn''t pleasant. I would rather have a normal day.

How music works

Yesterday, Florida got some much needed rain. I had to drive home in the rain, but the worst of it was over and I was dealing with a light rain which wasn't too bad. It slowed some people down to an unusual crawl. I had my radio on and I could hear all about the crashes, but when I turned my cd music on the world just seem to drift away. I guess the music I have brings you down from the everyday work hype. I listen to the radio for music with a fast beat so I can keep up with my work a day chores such as imputing files material into a computer. Fast music also makes me feel Super Cool like I own the world. It is a false sense of domination, but it is fun for a short time. The other coffee pot is done and mom will probably have like two or three cups to start her day. She gets to listen to the noises around New Smyrna like the train, crickets, and people talking and stirring around in the mornings. This is music to my mom's ears.

Sailing into the middle of the week

Middle of the week and back into projects at work. I just work away and hope the day goes by quickly. I like to get home and have some day leftover so I can do stuff outside. However, the Republican debates were on last night and I couldn't leave the tv. Tonight will be the Democrats and I will probably be glued to the tv again. I got coffee ready and I am the only one drinking it. I better get mom up so she can enjoy a few cups.

Stuff for the week

It is Tuesday and a shorter week, plus it is time sheet week. Need to get gas in truck do lots of work at work. Come home after work , eat some dinner and maybe do so stuff outside, if there is light left over from the day. I like the stormy clouds in the picture, because they carry different shades of light to darker grey. I also am glad to hear Gerald Ford is doing well. He was a reflection of the times when I was going to school. The last picture I saw him and his wife Betty, they both looked so frail. I hate to hear about tropical stuff, but it is the time of year when the tropics get very active.

Turned off on Star Trek

Last night, I thought I had pre-set the VCR for the Bill Shatner roast. It didn't take. I was disappointed at first, before I found out how lousy the roast was. I switched channels from an early Elvis record in a studio to tasteless jokes concerning Bill Shatner and other members of the crew. I felt very disappointed and was glad I didn't record the whole thing if any at all. Leonard Nimoy wasn't there which meant he had some taste and class. I hope next time I switch it will be to something that will interest me and I can call good taste.

Voting will be lots of fun. The Governor's race include Charlie Crist, Tom Gallagher, Jim Davis and Rod Smith. Florida's Attorney General race include Skip Campbell and Bill McCollum. It will be fascinating to see if Florida had more Democrats or more Republicans. My mom and sister will be poll workers this year and should have a pretty good time at it. I will be working, but I will still be interested to see who wins the races.

Interesting weekend ahead.

My friend Dee is back home with a new knee. She is very happy with it, but has a long road ahead of therapy which she is getting at home through the Veteran's Administration. She said the operation lasted only two hours and the doctor discharged her and 15 other patients early. Also, my lunch buddy Lillian is back from Alabama and next week we will have lunch together. Meantime, mom is going to find out the condition of my Aunt and when my cousin will take her to Indiana.

Friday is here

My Aunt is going back to Indiana which should be a good thing. She likes Indiana and my cousin can watch over her better. Mom is learning to be a Poll worker this morning and I work all day and come home this evening. I wanted Monday off to go to the dentist and not be rushed. I hope this is a nice weekend and everyone can enjoy it.

Lunch on Wednesday

I ate lunch yesterday at BP in Ocoee and it was good. The sandwich was on tomato, basil bread and it was roast beef. It had all the extras like lettuce, tomato, onion, and bacon. The bread was also toasted. I was able to get gas at 2.88 a gallon and return to work within the hour.

Middle of the week

Middle of the week and I hope things are going well for my friend Dee who had knee surgery yesterday. I guess I won't hear anything until she comes back home which will be towards the end of the week. I ate Chinese for lunch yesterday and nothing is as soothing as a big bowl of Won Ton soup. I purchased some chicken wings for an appetizer, but I really don't care for them. There is very little meat on the chicken wings. I don't know where I will go today for lunch, but that may be what I write about tomorrow.

Wishing for a good day

Yesterday's lunch was a Mc Donalds Happy Meal. I guess today will be Chinese food. I have to be creative while Lillian is on a trip to Alabama. Lillian is my lunch buddy and we go to many different eating places. I think I will stay close to work this week if I eat all week alone. I guess the coffee is ready for me and I for it. I hope this will be a good day at work and I come home to a good evening.

Concern about my Aunt

It seemed warm and sultry outside when I took some garbage out to the trash can. I hope they can fix whatever is bothering my Aunt. She took a fall, and we were told that she broke some bones. Mom and I haven't found out what was broken or how she is doing now. The last time I talked with my Aunt her voice sounded unhappy and squashed of any feeling. Lillian my lunch buddy is going to Alabama for a week and my other friend Dee is going in for Knee surgery in Tampa. I hope everyone's week works out ok.

Sunday, August 13, 2006

Last night I got to stick my feet into the cold sand and feel the icy cold salt water rush against my feet. This was like therapy for my feet and I could feel this way through the rest of me. Time seemed to go so quickly, but the sun took it's time setting in the West. I didn't get to see the sunset totally, but I got to see lots of little kids building sand castles, flying kites and screaming and running on the beach. It is a great temporary escape from the worries of the day. Today, I got the clothes drying on the clothes line, because it is real hot and the clothes should dry quickly and look fresh and smell good. Last night mom and I shared a baked flounder dinner. Baking made the fish tender and not dried out. It was a nice meal so when I came home, I could work on the yogurt pie which mom made. Mom and I also listened to a DVD of Andrew Lloyd Webber collection of songs honoring his love for music theater. It lasted three hours and was rich in song and mom just loved it.

Ready for a change

It is going to be a bright sunny day. It is Saturday and full of hope. I am looking forward to seeing mom's place where she is serving at the Democratic Headquarters. I cooked up a bunch of bacon and having leftover pancakes for breakfast. I am hoping for a definite change in the weather. I am looking for fall like signs. I look for changes in leaf color and the heat dulling out and a cool tingle in the air. I will also look for fall flowers and a fall crop of vegetables. This should be lots of fun.

Friday, August 11, 2006

It is very cozy inside this morning. I have mom's coffee finishing up brewing. The news on tv is always bad. The drive into work is usually good. I don't drive as fast as some of the other drivers, so I see more sites like the cows behind the fences and the fog on the lake. I often wish I could capture these sights on film, but I like the other drivers have a purpose to driver from Point A to Point B and do it in a timely manner. At least, this is Friday and when I come home I will have a two day weekend of not having to drive anywhere.

Where did the time go?

I enjoyed the full moon the last couple of nights and driving over the south bridge with the full moon in front of me. Time isn't me friend today, because it has come up so fast. I hope I can have another productive day at work with little or no problems. I also like coming home with a little bit of day leftover and the weekend to come so I can have a lot more time.

Lieberman lost

Lieberman lost the Primary in his home state last night. He wants to run as an Independent in the General Election. I am glad the Democrats decided to change the candidate. It was time for some new fresh person with new fresh ideas that would probably line up more with the Democratic ideas. Lieberman was in favor of the war and was buddies with Bush. I think the elections will be an interesting time and hopefully change minds for better ideas. The pictures are back.

Starting Tuesday

I was unable to bring up the pictures this morning. The moon has set and was really full and big and yellow. The flowers I bought from Publix wilted. I saw the moon when I was taking the garbage out to the curb. Time seems to be on fast forward this morning so I can't do much writing. I hope this turns out to be a good day.

Looking back on the weekend

The weekend as usual goes too fast. I did see the beach yesterday evening. It was still warm, but cooler than the middle of the afternoon. The ocean almost looks like a lake. The waves are there, but so calm. There were four kites flying last night, but mom and I didn't feel the wind much. I still like looking at the ocean. It has a very calming effect on my thoughts. My thoughts reflect like the ocean water reflects the colors of the sky. There are many different colors in the sky and many different thoughts in my brain.

Sunday Morning

What is the most effective way to keep bugs out of the kitchen? I wish I knew. I will have to work on that one. I did go to the movies and saw Barnyard which I though was really cute. This is an animated movie and at first I thought this would be like Animal Farm where the animals run things like Communist. This wasn't the case. It was a real hip movies that got you interested in the characters and how they progressed in the movie. I would give this movie four stars out of five.

Yesterday a co-worker was bringing in groceries he bought from Sam's Club. The prices are suppose to be cheaper if you buy their groceries in bulk. He had bought some buttermilk, sticks of regular butter and some half & half. He had talked about getting some heavy whipping cream. I thought he was going to cook up some buttermilk biscuits and maybe a walnut pie or my favorite, pecan pie with heavy whip cream. He says he uses the half & half on his cereal. I haven't really seen him cook anything exotic, but he says he watches the food channel and cooking shows. The last dessert I remember him making was Death by Chocolate which was really good. I guess with the stuff he was getting, it got me to think of cooler weather when a good roast with buttermilk biscuits and walnut pie would be in fashion. I think the cooler weather will take a long while to come here if at all.

Knowing the bus system

My lunch buddy and friend Lillian is so good at knowing which Lynx buses to catch. I am not sure I would ever find my way around on Orlando's bus system. The one in Volusia County is called Voltron and I believe I would be going all over Volusia, if I got on one of their buses. Lillian will know how to use the public transportation in Delaware when she goes to visit her boyfriend Aaron. I would even guess that Lillian will know the train system when the State gets it setup from Deltona or Deland to Orlando and where to catch the buses afterwards in Orlando.

I was trying to help my sister out last night by looking on line for doggies at the pound. It was interesting to see what types of breeds end up there. Labradors are a favorite along with some hounds and some coon dogs. Non were really pretty, but some did have a sweet looking face which hopefully means they would have a sweet personality. I hope my sister chooses well for her next dog. She has a big task ahead.

Starbucks needs a drive up window

I am about to get my first cup of coffee from Barnes. On my trip into Orlando, I had a few spare moments yesterday to stop at Starbucks for a Venti Mocha Frappachino. This drink the Venti Mocha Frap. is an ice cold coffee, chocolate with maybe a bit of expresso flavor to give that extra zip. I don't know for sure, because I never asked contents of the ingredients. I also had purchased a cookie and another little dessert. When I walked outside with my treats for the day, I saw this Seminole County Deputy circle the parking lot where my truck was parked and pull in close to the building behind this hot little red car parked next to Starbucks. The deputy got out and just stood there waiting patiently for the owner to come out. There were no flashing lights and he hadn't even called it in yet. I looked at the deputy and inside I wanted to give him my cookie to make his day better, but I refrained. I made my way across the parking lot like the crabs returning to the sea. I found my truck and saw the unlucky owner show his license and the deputy called it in and was starting to issue a ticket. The driver had parked in a no parking zone and the deputy had him on a clear violation. I left Starbucks thinking that they needed a drive up window. I am sure I would be a customer.

This is the first day of August and the second day of school for Seminole County. We have our first tropical storm called Chris. It has 40 miles an hour and rain could be coming here by the weekend. Next week starts school in Orange and Volusia. I also have to find the lowest of the high price gas stations to fill up the gas tank.
