Can they fix the oil leak?

I am so glad to take the pictures, I get around New Smyrna Beach. The threat of an oil slick seems longer lasting than the effects of a hurricane. The clean white sand and blue water filling with a black tar substance washing to the shoreline makes one giant mess. The tourist certainly don't want to build sandcastles with black tar and walk in white sand with black tar stuck to their feet and shoes. The seaweed would have the black junk and the pelicans would be swimming in it when out trying to catch fish. Plus the fish which the pelicans would ingest would have tar. This is a morning picture from the North side of the beach. The water has sunlight reflecting like little diamonds sparkling in a dress. The Atlantic ocean is a sea of calmness, because of no storms to stir the wave action. New Smyrna Beach is such an Eco friendly environment for birds, fish, dolphins, whales and people to live in harmony. I can imagine what it would be like in the Gulf of Mexico to have this invading poison destroying all that keeps Louisiana and the rest of the states in balance with nature.

Wednesday

Mom and I are planning to visit my sister this weekend. We will be leaving the nice weather over here. It has been a bit windy on the ocean, but nice to see the sail boats cruising by. This is a Monarch butterfly. I think butterflies are very pretty. I like the orange colors on the wings. Dinner was a tuna casserole. Dessert was chocolate candy on sale.

Monday before dark

The moon was almost full. There was a bit of setting sun on the white sail boats out on the ocean water. The pictures I take are harder to focus when the sun goes down. The lighting isn't as good and the pictures turn out kind of dull. I find them sharp in good sunlight. This picture was taken the other day. Someone not quite making a sand castle. Dinner was chicken and dumplings and dessert was short cake with some fruit. Plus whipped cream was placed on top of dessert.

Sunday night

Our weather radio just came on. It is a tornado watch. It says all counties are under this watch until 8p.m. The sky is gray over here and the mosquitoes are biting real bad. I haven't heard any real thunder. I though I heard some in the distance, but nothing emerged. My sister made it through her work day with rain and hail in the afternoon. She took shelter until the weather got better. She called to let my mom and I know she was alright. Dinner was salmon, broccoli, sweet potato and half a regular potato. Dessert was strawberry shortcake with whip cream.Maybe nicer weather will come later in the week with clear skies.

birds

The birds around here really sing so happy. I have seen blue jays, cardinals and mocking birds. The birds seem to come around when I am hanging up the clothes. I saw the Discovery shuttle leave the launch pad, but I heard the sonic booms and watched on television the shuttle's return. The next shuttle goes up in May. Dinner was black beans and brown rice. I look forward to seeing my sister's baby chickens when we go to visit her.

Middle of the week

Notice all the pelicans leaving, this will be the future of the space workers in Brevard C0unty. It is hard to imagine only three shuttle flight missions left. The space program will be a memory of the past. Our county will have to rely on rocket flights from Russia to see the space station. Tonight, salmon was on the menu for dinner.

Tuesday evening

My voice has returned, but I am still coughing due to the pollen. "American Idol " is on this evening . We are bypassing "Dancing with the Stars." This is a picture of a pelican which I did not see this evening when mom took me to the Flagler entrance. The ocean waves were rough and the birds were hard to find. There was a surfer in the water and a few people braved the water further on.

Saturday night

I know it has been a while , but I am back this evening after eating green beans and ham for dinner. I talked with my Aunt from North Carolina and she is not feeling good. She talked about having a pain, but I did not understand where. I told her I hoped she would get better. This is a beautiful sunrise on 27Th. Avenue back when I took loads of pictures as the sun was coming up. This picture gives me a positive feel on what a day should be like.

Saturday evening

This was my sister's 58Th. birthday and she celebrated it alone. We will have a makeup day come the First of May. This is Derby day, Mother's day celebration and Glendon's late birthday. Tomorrow will be Easter Sunday and then comes the shuttle take off on Monday. The weather has been great. I hope it stays this way through Monday.

April First

I like finishing the night off with a piece of raisin toast with butter, peanut butter and honey. It is the right combination that makes me totally relax. It is like landing on a soft pillow with my taste buds. Dinner tonight was frozen salmon, baked microwave potato and broccoli. My sister, mom and I are postponing the birthday celebration. I need more recovery time and my sister wants some time alone. My mom can look forward to mother's day and the other celebrations to go along with it. The first day of May will be a mother's day, belated Glendon's birthday and Kentucky Derby day celebration. It kind of sounds like fun. This is Christmas wreath picture I took a while back.
