Can they fix the oil leak?
I am so glad to take the pictures, I get around New Smyrna Beach. The threat of an oil slick seems longer lasting than the effects of a hurricane. The clean white sand and blue water filling with a black tar substance washing to the shoreline makes one giant mess. The tourist certainly don't want to build sandcastles with black tar and walk in white sand with black tar stuck to their feet and shoes. The seaweed would have the black junk and the pelicans would be swimming in it when out trying to catch fish. Plus the fish which the pelicans would ingest would have tar. This is a morning picture from the North side of the beach. The water has sunlight reflecting like little diamonds sparkling in a dress. The Atlantic ocean is a sea of calmness, because of no storms to stir the wave action. New Smyrna Beach is such an Eco friendly environment for birds, fish, dolphins, whales and people to live in harmony. I can imagine what it would be like in the Gulf of Mexico to have this invading poison destroying all that keeps Louisiana and the rest of the states in balance with nature.

What a great picture. You were lucky to have been there at just the right time when the sun would reflect and glisten off the water like that. As far as oil, it is difficult to live with it but impossible to live without it. What really scares me is what will happen to us when the oil runs out. Have a nice day and give Sergeant some doggie treats. Lew

In response to your comment on my blog, it is the light of the flames of a fire at night which attracts the moths. Unlike a light bulb which the moths can flutter around harmlessly, when a moth reaches a flame it is burnt up by the flame. I have also heard that a big difference between butterflies and moths is that Butterflies fly during the daytime and moths fly at night. That is probably why moths get zapped by the night-time bug lights but I have never seen a butterfly zapped by the bug zapper because it is turned off during the day when the butterflies are active. The pictures are the cocoon of a moth. Lew

I am still amazed by your picture. I really haven't seen anything quite like that with all of the glistening of the water. I was taking another look at the picture and I am still fascinated by it. What timing and luck. Do you ever buy lottery tickets? With the kind of luck that you have it may be a good idea. Take care. Lew
