Thursday morning
Lunch was chicken noodle soup and dinner was cream of chicken on buttermilk biscuits. Today, mom says we have a lot of chicken leftover for sandwiches, but I don't know if that will carry us through dinner. Today is the last day my sister Glendon gets to play at home. Tomorrow she goes back to work for half a day and puts in full days on Saturday and Sunday. I am pretty sure she won't be catching the shuttle launch tonight after midnight if it goes off. She wants her beauty sleep to be in a outdoors work mode. The coffee just warms up my insides. It is kind of like crawling under a blanket of coffee. This is kind of a weird analogy, but it is true. I taste it with every sip of coffee and feel it when the warm feeling covers me from head to toe. Have you ever pressed the panic button without knowing what you are worried about? I woke up in the dark and felt my big toe had something in it, which I though I might have somehow stumbled onto a staple and it went into my big toe. This is what I imagined without looking at my toe. I felt around my toe with my hand and discovered the staple was really just a loose toe nail hanging on to the end of my toe which I threw in the trash. The mystery was solved and life got back to normal.

Was the cream of chicken on bisquits, cream of chicken soup or chicken in a chicken gravy on top of the bisquits? It sounds good. It reminds me of the open-faced sandwiches that I use to get at the lunch counter at Wollworth's. The open-face roast beef sandwich was good but the open-faced chicken sandwich was cheaper. Whenever I have chicken served with a gravy, I always like generous helpings of jellied cranberry sauce to go with it. The cranberry sauce seems to be that little extra thing that tops off the meal. Cold chicken sandwiches with Miracle Whip the next day is also good. Mary and I did some outdoor yard work today. The heat was terrible at 2:30. We worked for about an hour and we stopped because we had accomplished what we wanted to. Tomorrow is a trip to Captain D's for lunch and then the library. Have a good evening and try as much as possible to stay cool. Not to fret, September 1 is only a week away. Lew

Hi Nancy, I was wondering if your whole toenail came off or was it just a broken piece? Once I had to have my toe nail taken off by a doctor due to a hangnail and it was so very sore for a few days. I would not want to lose a toe nail ever again....Mary
