Middle of the week

I was saying to myself "Mr. Spoon meet Mr. Tapioca" as I ate a couple of bite of cold refrigerated tapioca pudding. This was before I turned on the computer and found out that "Senator Edward (Ted) Kennedy" had died from brain cancer. At least the shuttle was kept on the ground because something broke in the refueling process. Someone was careful enough to say wait until things look a bit clearer. Yesterday was Lew's birthday and according to Mary they went to "Cracker Barrel" for lunch. The pictures are coming in very slow to my computer, but I hope he had a great time. I wonder if he got some red velvet cake?

With the passing of Ted Kennedy, I guess that sort of brings the Kennedy era to a close. I am sure that he had the best medical care possible and he had a good life.
"Mr. Spoon meet Mr. Tapioca" reminds me of a time when I was very young and my mom would play that airplane trick to get me to eat some food that I wasn't particularly fond of. You know the one. Where she would have some food on a spoon and move it around in the air as if it were an airplane and making airplane noises the whole time. And then it was time for the spoon airplane to land so I had to open my mouth so that it could land in my mouth. It was fun for me and my mom got me to eat something yucky. Oh my, the memories that we have of childhood. What a pleasant time it must have been. And red velvet cake? As a matter of fact I did have some just before going to bed. They have these pastries called Bingles and are basically red velvet cake Twinkies. They are filled with a cream frosting inside just like the twinkies. Mary gets them from the bread store. They are individually wrapped and we keep them on a shelf in the refrigerator. That plus some milk. What a pleasant treat just before retiring. Now I know why they call it "comfort food". Then it was off to bed and watching the television in the bedroom. I usually go to bed early like around 9:15 because either the cat or dog gets me up between 5:00 and 5:30. But last night I stayed up until 10:00 watching the movie Goodfellas which I like. They had so many great actors in that movie. The movie Casino is similar in theme to the movie Goodfellas. So this morning I didn't get up until 6:00 am. Everything is so wet outside this morning from the heavy rains that we had last night. The windows are steamed up on the outside of the glass because of the high humidity and the coolness inside the house. Don't forget that today is free Roast Beef sandwich day at Arby's. And I think that today is the last time of the free sandwich on Wednesday's days. We are going to Sanford today and we will try to find an Arby's in Sanford for lunch. Friday we are going to Captain D's. They sent me a coupon by email for a free birthday meal. Any meal that I want. So we are going to take them up on it. Have a lucky lottery day. Lew

By the way, did I mention that the bird in the picture looks grumpy? Sort of like the movie Grumpy Old Men. George Burns was good at playing the quintessential grumpy old man. He did an especially good job of that portrayal in the movie Going in Style. Lee Strassburg was in that movie also and I thought that he gave a fine performance. Have a good evening and I hope the grumpy old bird cheers up. Lew
