Friday around the neighborhood
The sun is back out after the afternoon showers. Lunch and dinner was Publix fried chicken dark meat on sale for $6.49 for eight pieces. Mom also prepared corn on the cob done in the microwave.
The cable went out during the day. Yesterday we lost both the cable and the regular power due to the lighting storm. I felt claustrophobic when there was no air, no lights and no cable. At least this goes on during the daytime and not at night. Sunday is the day we may be going over to my sister's house in Williston. I hope to pick a lot of blackberries. They are in season and are good all year around. If we are able to freeze them, then we can enjoy the berries when they are not in season. No movie today, it might have to wait until I come back from my sister's house next week.

There must be a lot of shrimp just off shore because of the shrimp boats. I remember a very very old song about "shrimp boats a coming there'll be......" I done't remember the name of the song or who sung it but it goes way back into the early 50's. The shrimp boat reminds of that song. I thought that if you put corn on the cob in the microwave that you would end up with popcorn. Have you ever been to those restaurants where the corn-on-the-cob is continuously rolled around and around in melted butter? It is just drenched with butter and is good although usually the corn is soft anda little mushy instead of firm. How do your arms hold up with picking blackberries? When I was young there was a very large patch of blackberries growing wild and I would have to go real slow in picking the blackberries trying not to get scratched. No matter how har I tried I would always end up with multiple scratches. I guess that I just wasn't as good as Brer Rabbitt with briar patches and thorns. However, I had instant gratification because I ate the blackberries as I picked them. When I grew up in a small town, summers were a time of constant feasting on fruits and vegetables. I can't even begin to imagine the amount of apples that I would eat from the apple orchards each summer. It was a lot. They were McIntosh apples which were very juicy and so I would eat a McIntosh apple whenever I got thirsty. These apple orchards were everywhere. You have a good trip to Williston. Tonight Mary and I are going to the science museum for a laser show set to classic rock music. Since we are members, it is free. The parking is free too. Have a nice birthday and be sure to get a picture of the cake. Lew
