On the teeder todder of life

Denied coffee until the blood test was complete, the day was looking tough. However, the weatherman says rain doesn't come until tomorrow. Today was yard trash day and I didn't have any yard trash placed outside. I drove to Quest after making my mom coffee and not drinking any for myself. I was the last one called and the wait was almost an hour. I even had to use the restroom before having my name called. I kept anticipating my name would be called sooner, but it wasn't meant to be. However a sales rep. whom the girl behind the front desk scolded because he came in while she was in the restroom left a dozen Dunkin Doughnuts. I thought how delightful and she was worried about the fat. She offered me a doughnut after I took my blood test. The lady extracted four vials of blood which I didn't realize was done. I was distracted by the picture of the bird and the flower on the wall. It seemed to take a couple of minutes for me to realize this was a hummingbird. The test was over and I opened the box and thought I had gone to heaven. I commented " I died and gone to heaven." "May there be doughnuts in heaven." My choice of doughnut was the one with chocolate icing on top and Boston cream filling in the middle. I could relish every morsel before I ate my first bite. I started eating the bottom of the doughnut before I opened the door to leave and got to the good stuff when I reached my truck. Never mind the banana I brought for potassium. I had second thoughts and ate the banana thinking it could be like the chocolate covered banana I use to eat at Disney World. I had wanted to eat breakfast out, so I went to the Little Drug Store where I had one biscuit with gravy and a scrambled egg with coffee. I threw out the banana peel and what was left of the doughnut before entering the store. When I finally did come home mom had made some oatmeal. I finished up what was in the pan along with drinking some billberry juice. This is all before 11 o'clock and the rest of the day to play.

Been there, done that. I know what you went through having to skip breakfast for a fasting blood test. When Mary goes for her blood test we usually go to the laboratory department at the hospital. I always refer to Mary there as the butterfly lady so that they will use a butterfly type needle which is much better than a regular needle. There is less chance of a butterfly needle coming out of the vein once it is in the vein. Also, the butterfly needle allows for a much shallower entry into the vein than the regular needle. I always remind them that the only way to get the blood successfully is to use a butterfly needle. They always comply and use a butterfly which makes it a lot easier. After the blood test we head down to the hospital cafeteria for a cup of coffee and a large rich blueberry muffin. We usually have a wait in the waiting room for the blood test but I always take one of my paperback textbooks to read.
Well now I know that we have one thing in common, boston creme doughnuts with chocolate frosting from Dunkin Donuts. When I worked in Miami we had an inspector named Paul who also liked chocolate covered boston creme doughnuts. When the supervisor had the monthly staff meeting, he would bring in a box of assorted doughnuts from Dunkin Donuts. There would be one and only one chocolate covered boston creme donut and when the box was opened, it was always a race between Paul and I as to who got the chocolate covered boston creme donut first. Sometimes there would even be a little light sugary frosting on top which made it even more desirable. Sometimes Paul beat me to the donut but sometimes I beat him. It was easy to tell by the facial expression that the loser was not happy and the winner gloating on their victory in getting the prized donut. By the way, what is billberry juice? I have never heard of it. Tomorrow is going to be a Wal-mart shopping day. I am in the process of refurbishing my 4 inch reflector telescope. My secondary mirror came off and so I will get some gorilla glue to reattach it. Also I am going to repaint the telescope tube which is bright yellow. I will paint it the same color. The interior of the telescope tube I will paint flat black to keep any unwanted light from reaching the mirror. I had orginally lined the tube with black felt but it was beginning to deteriorate so I eliminated it. When I get all of that done I am going to have to precisely align the telescope optics which is always challenging. I have done it in the past but I don't know where the special tool that I need is so pardon the pun but I may have to do a "mickey mouse" alignment. Tonight we had chicken patty sandwiches with white beans. A little later I am going to have my dessert which is sugar free raspberry jello with some whipped cream on top. Have a good evening and instead of dreaming of sugar plums, dream of donuts instead. Take care. Lew
