Time to crawl back under the covers

I had my one cup of coffee. It was eight o'clock coffee which does not have the kick start bite that Folgers carries. Mom doesn't want to pay the price of Folgers. This is why mom and I are drinking another brand of coffee. Yesterday, mom and I went to a dog parade contest. The dogs were decorated to fit the occasion. I like being under the covers until the sun comes up. I may do this after the picture pops up. My sister is completing her final day of work for the weekend. She goes back to work next Friday. She says she has to clean four stalls today. Glendon works very hard and gets very tired at the end of the day. This dog looks so frilly in his red outfit. I hope he wins many awards in the dog contest.

I cleaned stalls once also. Had a whole barn full of them. They told me that the manure was at least two feet deep. I didn't believe them since I could see that it was about 10 inches high. They were probably just trying to play a joke on Lew. I was wrong. Unknown to me but know to them the cement floor of the stalls was about a foot and a half below the floor of the barn. The manure was at least two feet deep. They only cleaned the stalls about once a year. Lucky me. The wheelbarrow that I had to pile the manure on and haul to a trailer was an antique one with a wooden flat bottm and a wooden end piece but no sides. It also had an iron wheel. I had to run this up a 2" x 6" board to get it into the trailer. I couldn't see the wheel and sometimes the iron wheel of this anitque wheelbarrow would slip off the board as I was going up it and the wheelbarrow would fall off and dump the whole load of manure on the ground. Glendon's bobcat is the way to go. Four stalls a day? I don't remember how many I did but it took a long time to do each one. After a thorough cleaning, lime was spread around and then a layer of hay (to be shoveled out a year later). Today is going to be a work day outside because of the nice weather. Wait a minute, isn't Sunday suppose to be a day of rest? Pardon the pun but I guess "make hay while the sun shines" or the weather is warm. Breakfast this morning consisted of a bowl of grits with butter, bacon, raspberry muffin doughnuts and tangerine sections. I haven't heard anything from Sarasota. I'll try again later on this morning. Have a nice day. Lew
