A new month and maybe some new ideas

Mom and I attended the New Smyrna Beach High School Annual Spaghetti Dinner. The cost was five dollars and I guess it was suppose to help the kids out with their education. It was the next big main event to the New Smyrna Beach Images Art festival. Mom and I missed hearing Suzanne Kosmos who won the election over Tom Feeney to represent our area in Congress. It was on the cool side Saturday morning and all I cared about was being snuggled under the warm covers and catching up on my sleep. The art Show was a bit too crowded. Mom didn't even think she could find a parking spot. All of Downtown was pretty well parked up. The spaghetti dinner was a portion of spaghetti along with some salad and dinner roll with one small package of Parmesan cheese. We got a small cup of either diet coke or regular coke to drink. We sat a table in the cafeteria and saw our neighbor Laurel finishing up her spaghetti meal and getting ready for the entertainment across the hall in the auditorium. The entertainment was "The Bert Fish Bedpan Band." Yes, you read the last statement right. This is a band of Seniors with white shirts and short red flashy ties who play bedpans. Bert Fish is the name of our local Hospital.

I know what you mean about the crowds at the art festivals nowadays. Mary and I went to the art festival in Mt. Dora and the crowds were absolutely overwhelming. The people were shoulder-to-shoulder so that it was difficult walking. Parking was at the local high school which we had to pay for and then bussed on the school busses to within three or four blocks of the festival. The food and drink from the food vendors was outrageously high. I do not see myself going back to Mt. Dora for the next art festival and that experience has discouraged me on other art festivals. However, I do like going to the various festivals at Lake Eola because I have never seen it super crowded and there is a nice sidealk restaurant where we can get lunch and watch the people walking by. This morning Mary made strawberry waffles with fresh sliced strawberries inside topped with more fresh sliced strawberries and whipped cream. They were good. Today it will be supper at Dennys for one their new skillet dinners where the meal comes to the table in a large skillet. I am also looking forward to enjoying one of their salads. You and your mom have a nice day with a big bowl of chips and some onion dip. And don't forget the cheese and crackers also. Take care. Lew

The picture reminds me of myself at the beach when I was young. I hope that this boy had better luck than I did with the incoming tides. I could spend hours playing in the sand which I didn't get to do in the first grade. That's right, I never got to play in the sand box in the first grade classroom during our breaks. Our desks for us to sit at were assigned in alphabetical order and as luck would have it, I ended up at the very front of the classroom. The classroom had around 30 students in it and the sandbox would be completely surrounded by 12 students. When break time came, all of the students would run to the back of the room where the sandbox was. Being at the very front of the room, the other students would beat me to the sandbox. Maybe that is why I could spend hours playing in the sand at the beach when I was around ten years old on vacation in Florida. I was probably making up for the first grade sandbox. As a result of those hours in the bright sun playing in the sand, I always got a terrible sunburn. And I know that you remember my comic book story. Have a warm day and keep pursuing your photography. Good picture composition. Lew
