Trash day was successful
I got the trash out before eight in the morning. The trash people came right at eight in the morning. They seemed very early. This picture is of a small golf cart light vehicle with a flashing orange light caring little trash cans and picking up garbage left on the beach. This guy just zooms down the beach. At a distance, this vehicle looks like something foreign and official. However, the closer you look at it , the more familiar this vehicle turns out. There was a nice sea breeze when I took this picture. The sun was setting and some people were going home. However, some stayed and some new people arrived

Our garbage men use to come around 6:00 or 7:00 am. If I didn't get the trash out the night before, then I would remember it as I was roused from my slumber by the sound of the garbage truck out front. Of course, by then it was too late to get the trash out. Now they must have a different driver or shifted the route and they don't come until mid-morning. Plenty of time to get the trash out in time in case I should forget to put the trash out the night before. We don't seem to have racoons in the neighborhood to tip the trash cans over but on rare occassion the stray cats will get into the garbage. I can see their claw marks on the plastic bags. Never much fun picking up the garbage from the street. Today, Mary and I went to the Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe to look at the scapular medals in their gift shop. I am amazed by the size of the gift shop and the selection. They have such a variety of anything and everything you could ever want in religious items. The Shrine has now been designated a mini-basilica with the official dedication scheduled for
August 22. We looked at the scapular medals and I wanted a gold medal instead of silver. I spotted just exaclty what I wanted and so Mary bought it for my birthday. It is a beautiful medal and I like it a lot. After I get it on my birthday, I will send a picture of it. This Shrine of Mary is so large, absolutely gigantic, which may be why they changed its designation to a mini-basilica. While we were there we went inside the church to look around again. Gotta go. Have a nice evening. Lew
