Thursday is finally here

Holly is snoring this morning. She has been so cute. She is adorable to pet and take care of. However, she does go home this evening with Berry to her owner Howard. It will be somewhat a relief to know they are reunited. Mission accomplished, which means getting this place back to the days prior to when the dogs came to visit. This morning promises to be a busy morning. The lawn cutting crew is suppose to be here early this morning to cut our lawn. The lady next door usually gets it done every week, but I saw her cutting her own grass yesterday with a lawnmower. I didn't figure her for pushing a lawnmower, because she seemed to be someone who just liked things done. This will be the last day with both dogs and it will be lively. Meantime, I enjoy a nice cup of Folgers coffee and listen to Mash while I encourage Holly to stay on her chair. Mom, Holly and I enjoyed a nice steak dinner from Outback last night. We rode in the car and I got take out at the take out to purchase a 20 ounce Porter House steak dinner. When I returned home, the taste of the steak seem to melt in my mouth. I got a little bit of steak juice on my half of the baked potato. The salad had crisp ice berg lettuce with small tomatoes and slightly hot onions. I also ordered ranch dressing to place on top of the salad. It came with a small wheat dinner roll which was split between mom and I. Last night was also the Sarah Brightman concert on PBS. Sarah strolled down the aisle in this big church like setting in a flamboyant red velvet dress. She had her arms stretched out like a exotic peacock courting an audience of devoted listeners.

We have a lawnmower that is self-propelled and has an electric starter. The power assist for the self-propelled is needed because the mower sinks so much into the sugar sand. Plus it is nice just to turn the key to start it. Tomorrow we are going to the Butterfly Encounter at the Lucas Nursery in Oviedo. For sure this time. Carved in stone. Or as Yul Bryner said in the movie The Ten Commandments, "So let it be written, so let it be done". By the way the Outback has some absolutely decadent desserts. Sydney's Thunder from Down Under, and others just as good. We had a freeze drink at Taco Bell's yesterday which was mango flavored and was absolutely delicious. I had a taco bowl salad. The bowl is a giant taco and edible. It was a full meal. Mary is going to get some minced garlic that is in a jar with oil. You have probably seen them in the grocery store. I have never had garlic that way and am looking forward to it. I bet that it is good. Have you ever tried the Tropicana brand sugar free fruit drinks in the 2 liter bottle? They taste so good that it is had to believe that they are sugar free. It comes in fruit punch, orange, and lemonade. It is also non-carbonated which takes some of the tartness out of it. I ordered a USB extension cable over the internet from Walmart. I don't like ordering anything over the internet because I have to send my credit card number over the internet. Well, at Walmart you can purchase a gift card and then use the gift card to pay for the goods on-line. This saves me from using my credit card on the internet. The prices at Walmart internet shopping are cheaper than the store and the selection is much greater than what is available in the store. Plus if you have it shipped to a Walmart store and pick it up, then there is no shipping charges. Pretty neat. Have you ever thought of getting an older small dog from the pound? Plus if the dog doens't work out you can always exchange it, that is if you have the heart, or lack of it I should say. I say that because many years ago when I was living in Phoenix, AZ I went to the pound to get a dog. We selected a puppy and they brought it out to us. The assistant brought the dog from back coming through the door on the right and set the puppy on a metal table. We were all excited and then the vet assistant said "Oh, oh." I said what's wrong. He said that the dog had an umbilical hernia. He held the dog up and showed us. I asked if it would go away. He said probably not. I said then what happens. He said that the dog would need surgery to correct it. I asked how much it would cost. He said around $100. At the time my base gross pay was $ 450/mo. And so $ 100 was a sizable amount of money to me. I told him that all I wanted was a puppy, not vet bills. He told me that I could get another puppy instead. I said that would be fine. The vet assistant picked the puppy up and left the room with it. But he didn't go through the door on the right. He went through the door on the left. I felt terrible. I mean really terrible. I didn't have the courage to ask what was behind the door on the left. We selected another puppy. If I could roll back the clocks to that time period I would take the puppy with the hernia. Too late in life we get smart and begin to understand what is really important in life. Sort of like the book Life After Life. I don't know if you have ever read it but it has some interesting concepts. Enjoy your supper because tomorrow is Friday and you know what that means, fish. Lew
