Dinner at the Beacon
Mom and I ate out this evening. We went to the Beacon. Mom had the baked flounder and I had the butterfly shrimp. Neither one of us had dessert. It was nice not to have to wash the dishes. Most of the meal was quiet with very few people. Towards the end of the meal, more couples started pouring in to eat dinner. The beach was pretty quiet today. There wasn't a lot of visitors. This evening after dinner, mom and I did go to the North end and saw some Asian looking people who could have been Buddhist monks and rice pickers. One lady was wearing a pointed hat. The guys were wearing draping clothes. What do you think about the crashing of the probe on the moon? I guess I have to wait and see how it is until after the event.

You’re picture should be used by the chamber of commerce on a poster to attract people to Florida. What a leisurely life style; sitting on the beach basking in the warm sun (and it has been warm), reading a good book and all the while listening to the peaceful sounds of the surf. It really doesn’t get much better than that. No wonder people come from up north to Florida to retire. The restaurant, The Beacon sounds like one of those fancy restaurants with linen tablecloths and linen napkins. Remember the restaurants called Morrison’s? They had linen tablecloths and linen napkins. Their turkey dinner special was really cheap. Maybe that is why they went out of business. Lew ordered too many of their turkey dinners which they could not have been making much profit on. Then they had these guys who would carry your tray from the cash register to a table. That was all that they did, carried the tray from the cash register to the table and then stand there waiting for a tip. They really didn’t do much but I would give them a buck. Taking into account for inflation, that would be about 2.50 in today’s dollars. Between the flounder and the butterfly shrimp, I think that you got the better meal. However, if they had a special on a turkey dinner, I would have gotten that. Well, actually, not really. When you go to a seafood restaurant with a name like The Beacon, you just have to get seafood. I assume the name The Beacon is named after the beacon of a lighthouse. I am glad that you and your mom got to eat out. Eating out is always lots of fun. Mary got her birthday coupon for a free meal at Captain D’s seafood last night on her e-mail, so tonight we are going to have supper at Captain D’s. The employee’s there don’t wear pirate hats but it would be a nice touch if they did. Have a nice day and enjoy the global warming. What else could be making it so hot? Maybe El Nino? Lew
