Meal time

Lunch and Dinner was a beef roast. It was very hard to cook because it did not want to cook in the middle. We kept the air off until this evening. I was hoping for more of a breeze , but did not get it. This is an old picture which I chose because I wanted something with flowers. I was in a flower mood. The sun is getting into a sunset mode. The sky has been a deep light baby blue. It is like jumping into a blue balloon and finding no way out. The evening dishes are being washed in the dishwasher. The last bit of watering the grass is being done before the weekend. We still have leftover chili which will make another nice meal. What is your favorite meal for cooler weather? Is it something you cook or other people cook for you?

We had a similar problem with cooking meat in the Showtime rotiserie grill. We cooked the meat and cooked it until the outside was getting ready to burn so we had to take it off of the rotisserie spit and finish it off in the microwave oven which toughened it of course. Have you ever tried the Heinz brand of beef gravy that comes in a jar? It is pretty good. It goes great on the mashed potatoes when you have a beef roast. A little sliced or chopped onion on top of the mashed potatos and gravy is a fine touch. The gravy is even good when put right on top of the sliced roast beef. An open-faced roast beef sandwich with gravy over it is a fine meal also. Winter meals are typically "heavy" meals like meat loaf, spaghetti, sausage, and the like. Manwich sandwiches for lunch as well. When I was very young my mom would make me a winter time lunch that I really loved. She would sautee sliced green peppers and bell peppers in lots of oil (and I mean lots of oil). She would then take a hoagie roll and slice it so that the bottom half was about twice as thick as the top. Then she wouold scoop out a large portion of the bread in the bottom half. Yeah, you guessed it, she would then put the sauteed green pepper and onion oiloy mixture into the hollowed out bottom half. Flip on the top half and what a sandwich. Because of the generous amount of oilo, this was strictly a winter dish. Gotta go. Time for Mary and I to do our online crossword puzzle. Lew
