Food to start the weekend
Mom got me a Kentucky Fried Grilled Chicken dinner with the mashed potatoes and gravy for one side dish and the macaroni and cheese for the other side dish. The first taste of the grilled chicken reminded me of rubber chicken because it had no crust or juice. The taste of the grilled chicken grew on me after eating away at the mashed potatoes and gravy and macaroni. I am still more fond of the fried chicken. However, I do believe this grilled chicken has less grease, than the rotisserie chicken purchased at Winn Dixie or Publix. I encouraged mom to try it out , so she ate a grilled chicken wing that was included in the meal. Kentucky Fried only gave us four coupon dollars for one meal ; instead of, coupons for my mom as well. We both filled out the same form ,but I was the one to write and complain afterwards. I am not happy to hear about the recall of Nestle's toll house cookie dough. I guess it is better than getting sick. However, I don't like to hear about bad things happening to people. I like to enjoy special treats in life which I included Nestle's cookies made from their famous cookie dough.

Mary and I also tried the new KFC chicken. To me it tasted like rotisserie chicken. I have the "set it and forget it" showtime rotisserie at the house here. We don't use it that often because it is a job to clean up afterwards and it takes a while to cook the chicken. Mary bakes chicken quarters in a pan in the oven and it comes out really good. On occassion we will have the KFC extra crispy chicken but not too often. I like the banquet frozen chicken that comes in a box already breaded. Just put it on a tray and stick it in the oven. The taste to me is similar to KFC. Plus you can get it without the skin which cuts down on the fat. We went to Captain D's seafood restaurant yesterday. I brought a piece of fish home which I had for supper tonight. Mary had boiled shrimp over fettucini. I had some of the fettucini as well plus some leftover three bean salad which we had with our tuna fish sandwich at lunch. Mary didn't like the three bean salad because of the vinegar. I liked it because it is both sweet and sour. At salad bars, I always get some of the three bean salad. I have a coupon for Captain D's for fathers day for a free meal and so we will have to return on Sunday so I can get my free meal. The coupon is good only on fathers day. I don't know what kind of orange tree we have. I am hoping that it is a valencia because those oranges are usually sweet. Have a nice day. Lew
