Saturday at home
I finished a telephone conversation with my sister who was heading off to work at a horse farm vet school connected with the University of Florida. She was saying that she had to get ready 48 scoops of feed for the young foals. She was also thinking about getting an inside job; instead of, keeping the one she presently has now. The one minus point about this move is that she would have less stories to tell. If she place her horse stories onto her blog, I am sure it would be quite interesting and full of adventure. Meantime, the movie I saw yesterday "Made of Honor" was a good little romance story. Guy gets girl and looses girl to another guy but gets her back at the end of the story. This picture is the underside of the bridge that I travel over and many fishermen fish off the pier. The bush in the picture is an Oleander. It blossoms, but no one pays attention to it. My agenda for the weekend is after taking my required medicines just going with what feels good. I am sure laundry will get done and dishes will get washed. Mom has the farmer's market to attend. She likes getting the fresh vegetables which we eat during the week. I have more wild ideas like we should have more Desalination plants along the coast and not just in Tampa powered by Solar energy. These are plants that convert salt water to fresh water. This would help ease any drought or dry spell that would come and help keep a healthier level in Florida's aquifer. When I heard the story on the news awhile back about the California company that wanted to come to Florida and bottle our water and take it back to California, I couldn't believe the boldness which they were claiming their rights. They weren't looking out for their neighbors, but just trying to make a profit. I was glad when the local town told them No. Floridians will stand their ground and claim what is rightfully their property which is the aquifer. Out of 50 states in the Union, California has to pick on Florida for water. They couldn't have gone to Tennessee or a state more North. I know California hurts for water with out of control Forrest fires, but the answer lies in another direction and not with Florida.

Mary and I will be going to Daytona to do some salt water fishing off of a pier. We were going to go on a fishing boat called Miss Cape Canaveral but changed our mind because it was a little pricey. Plus we would have to be at the boat by 7:00 am for the departure which means getting up around 4:30 am. Oleander is a very popular bush in Arizona. It tolerates the heat well and grows like crazy. It also grows with long slnder branches which are perfect for putting hot dogs on to cook over a fire. Unfortunately the sap of the oleander is toxic and boils out of the brancg into the hot dog. People become quite ill with stomach ache and vomiting. I had a row of oleander bushes along the west side of the chain link fence of a house that I once owned in Phoenix, AZ. I dug a very shallow trench and ran a pvc pipe from the washing machine drain house to the oleanders. In Arizona with the bright sun, lots of water, and the phosphates from the detergent the oleander bushes grew at an unbelievable pace. They quiklt became hug. At least 15 feet in height. They became so big that they had become a nuisance so I decided to remove them. I dug all the way around the first bush but try as I might I could not get it out of the ground. I figured "no problem, I have a pickup truck with a large metal back bumper and a tow ball. I wrapped one end around the oleander bush and the other around the tow ball. No matter how much gas I gave to the accelerator, the oleander would not budge. I went down in defeat and had to give up. And I suppose that it is still there to this day daring anyone to try and remove it. Have a good weekend. Lew
