Rainy Monday
The garbage got taken out this morning. I ran through the rain drops. I also took some ocean pictures on the Flagler entrance. The weather kept many away from the beach. It was very easy to find a parking spot. The rain made me appreciate a warm, safe and dry house. When I closed the windows, it is like I closed out the rest of the world. Today, I got to watch Bonanza in the afternoon. I received an update from Martha Bird who is a friend of Russ Williams who is a friend of the family. Here is a manger scene to get me in the Christmas mood.

A nice manger scene. I like the glow from the illumination from the lights inside the figures. It has to be really pretty at night. But in the past. Past years that is. I was working in the x-ray department of a Catholic hospital, St. Joseph's in Phoenix. It was just before Christmas. There was a small niche in the wall in the
x-ray department of the hospital that was about six inches wide by ten inches high and four inches deep. In the niche there was a manger scene. The figures were small. One day, one of our Catholic radiologists was walking down the hall when he suddenly stopped, looked at the niche, and exclaimed that the Christ child was missing from the manger. Someone had stolen the Christ child from the manger. The radiologist was upset by this as we all were. Who could have done such a dastardly deed. The next morning one of our technicians showed up at work with the baby Jesus and was so apologetic. She said that she had borrowed the baby Jesus because her manger scene at home didn't have one. She was so sincere in her apology that I believed her plus I knew her and she had a good heart. But that was a Cristmas that none of us forgot because of all of the excitement over the disappearance of the Christ child from the manger. I look back onto it and I have to chuckle over all of the excitement and wild speculation that occured. The technician said that she didn't think that anyone would miss it because it was there year 'round. But what excitement she generated. Have a nice Christmas and I hope that Santa brings you lots of overpriced gifts and gets you nothing but toys and fun things like computer games. Lew
