Monday starting a new week
The boat parade is over and the lighting of the tree on top of the Bert Fish Memorial Hospital in New Smyrna Beach is over. It is back to a usual routine of morning Doctor visit. Paying health insurance to be covered into next year. Renewing my prescriptions, so I don't run short on medicine. Take out the garbage and hang up the clothes. Take my vitamins and eat breakfast and getting dressed. Last night mom and I got to see the New Smyrna Beach Show dolls. They are a dance group of young ladies either in High School or Middle School. They wore black, kind of sparkled outfits and danced to the toy soldier. Both mom and I got bored so we didn't hang around for the final lighting of the tree. The entertainment couldn't hold our attention for two hours. Mom just wanted the tree to be lit and go home. I also wanted the same thing. I was more impress with the boat parade. Both mom and I had a good time watching boat parade.

Sounds like you're the official garbage-tak'er-out'er. Not to feel bad about that. Misery loves company and I am the official garbage tak'er out'er here. Plus I am the chief recyclable person. But that is only the half of it because then I am the official garbage can tak'er in'er. Many many years ago, the garbage men in Miami would come into everyone's backyard and retrieve the garbage cans which were located in two cement-lined pits in the ground. They would empty the two trash cans of garbage into a large plastic container, lift it to their shoulder and carry it back out to the street and dump it into the back of the garbage truck. It was incredibly physically demanding. Plus the large plastic containers would get cracks and holes in them and leak the foul and smelly garbage juices down the backs and fronts of the garbage men. And after carrying leaking plastic containers for a couple of hours they would be just covered with the smelly liquids. I felt so sorry for them. One time the garbage collectors protested saying that they wanted the garbage department to replace the broken containers but the garbage department wouldn't do it. It sort of seemed like an example of man's (garbage dept) inhumanity to man (garbage collectors). They don't do that in Miami anymore of which I am glad. In my area it was tradition to give presents to the garbage men as they came by on the last collection before Christmas. But that doesn't seem to be the case here in Orlando. I gave them ten dollars worth of McDonalds gift certificates each. That was a total of ten dollars because there were three of them, a driver and two hoppers. They are called hoppers because they are constantly "hopping" on and off the back of the truck. I think that they remembered my gifts because we always got very good service from the garbage men. If something fell out of the can, such as a piece of paper, as they picked up the can, they would always reach down to retrieve it and throw it into the truck also. Anyway, that is my garbage story. Mary and I will be going to the Christmas party at the office next week but Mary is not sure what she will take for a food dish. Today I am going to buy a VCR/DVD for Mary for Christmas. I have had to give up on the tanzanite earrings. I told her the problems that I was having finding a pair. She asked that I get her a set of amethyst earrings instead to go with her amethyst ring that I got her in the past. We are also going to Walmart to do some grocery shopping today. It is much nicer to go shopping on a weekday rather than the weekend, especially during the Christmas season. Take care and have a good day. Lew
